Young people across South London face multiple levels of adversities that have a knock-on effect on their well-being and life choices. 25% of London's children are at risk of going hungry during the school holidays, with almost 4 in 10 (37%) of the capital's children living in poverty. As an area with a high percentage of young people eligible for free school meals & increased numbers of looked after children, young people's risk of following a detrimental path increase during school holidays.
Reaching Higher supports young people in and around Croydon, challenging them to become leaders in their own lives. We have adapted our approach to ensure we are reaching young people and meeting their needs following the pandemic.
We will partner with local schools and the community to provide FREE half-term provisions for young people most in need with a solution-focused approach. We will provide fun, safe and interactive activities for young people as well as nutritional lunch and dinner.
This Summer, we had 800+ visits from young people in the community who all received a hot meal, somewhere to go and exciting activities to take part in. With your support, we can do that all again and more next half term!
We will deliver an exciting and interactive half term programme for young people filled with positive workshops, sports activities, building self-esteem, developing life skills equipping them to make their mark. We will provide participants with free nutritional lunch and dinner packs to take home.
We are raising funds towards this with The Big Give this Christmas, which means that for every £1 you give, your donation will be doubled for the next 7 days! Click here to make a donation!
